What game lands it ok to hunt with rifles in PA
I am new to hunting and thinking about buying a rifle for deer season but am unsure where i would go to use it. I live in Montgomery county which is a Special Regulation Area which is why I am unfamiliar with other places.

On to the PGC website you can look up all of the SGL's and special reg's areas and overlap them, as well as get maps and directions too. I live in Montco also and can tell you that the SGL's and the state parks and forests in this area get hit pretty hard and can be tough to learn how to hunt on, if you find an area that you might want to go to, I would call the PGC or park office and ask questions about the pressure and recommended places on the property to go. As far as a rifle goes; unless you plan on doing all of your deer hunting outside of the special reg's, it might behoove you to get either a rifled barreled slug gun or an in line muzzleloader. You can use them in special reg's (except Philly) and, with the right set up and practice, both can reach to 200 yards, which is more than adequate in PA.
