    Default Another cop shoots himself

Someone supposedly sees a dude carrying a gun mexican style, calls the cops, out they come with their assualt rifles, I mean personal defense weapons and 1 has an AD. This is like the 3rd or 4th AD in the last 2 months.

No gun toting guy was ever found and I'll speculate that the 911 caller thought it was a gun but it wasn't.

The campus of Manchester Community College was locked down Wednesday after a student reported seeing a man with what she believed to be a gun in his waistband, and one of the officers involved in the response was apparently injured in an accidental shooting.

Students were urged to stay away from campus as police armed with rifles searched and cleared the buildings one classroom at a time, a process expected to last into the evening. A couple hours after the alert, college president Gena Glickman said authorities were confident the situation was under control.

Police radio reported an accidental discharge of a firearm and an officer was taken from the scene in a police cruiser to Hartford Hospital, according to the Journal Inquirer of Manchester.

When the student reported seeing a man with a gun shortly before 2 p.m., the college sent an alert to students by text message and called Manchester police, who quickly responded. Classes were canceled for the day and people were told to stay out of the halls as police conducted their search.

Glickman said the lockdown went smoothly but it would likely take a couple of hours for police to finish the room-to-room search.

Glickman said students from a high school on the campus were taken by bus to another location so their parents could pick them up. She said an ambulance was called for one student who suffered an asthma attack.

I wonder if he was the only one professional enough to carry on that campus?

Whether it was a gun or not, we don't have any evidence that a crime is or was about to be committed or that the person indeed was armed AND dangerous.

The overreaction to a possibly legal activity (or as somone suggested, perhaps a misunderstanding/mistake) caused one person to be injured and another to have an asthma attack (apparently related or insinuated to be related).

This should be seen as just as bad or worse than an active shooter. Then we are dealing with a crazy person not a crazy system.

Now the message has been sent. To shut down a facility and interrupt business operations at a school one just needs to claim he/she saw someone with a gun. A bit like the old phoned in bomb threat from days past, with a twist. The twist is that anyone can claim in good faith to have thought they saw someone with a gun (which may indeed have been present) and full on retard alarm ensues. The really scary part is the police searching the school room by room with their, uhmmm... "rifles" looking for who knows what. The good news is that the negligent discharge did not hit some poor citizen minding his/her own business while the Keystone Kops were looking for Animal Chin.
