Default Input on Specter Gear 2 point Sling OR Suggestions for Similar

I've been looking into 2 point slings and while Specter Gear has been around for a while, I'm not finding much info on them.
I'm looking for input on this brand in particular, but if I get info that leads me in another direction, so be it.

Some background info to explain why I am looking into this brand of sling:

I have several long guns that need slings. (Mossberg 500 shotgun, AR, AK, lever gun)
Some have sling attachment points and some have nothing - not even swivel studs, so that is a factor.

Equipping each with the same type of sling is desirable for familiarity of use across all "platforms".
Note that the lever gun is more, or less a SHTF gun and as such, I'm not concerned with this type of sling looking out of place on it.

The Specter 2 point was suggested by someone for use on my shotgun (no swivel studs) since the rear of the sling is held on with a Velcro "stirrup" and it comes with a sling plate/side mount for the front - perfect.

After seeing this setup I realized it would also work much the same way for my AR15. Then when I checked out the website, I saw that they have slings made specifically for several types of long guns - perfect!
    http://www.spectergear.com/searchresults.asp?cat=48
I assume that the differences are minor changes in lengths of sling and perhaps mounting points specific to different firearms.

This made me happy because while there are other slings that are quite popular, I don't see them as being as "versatile" in their offerings. If you are equipping an AR15, you're good, but nobody else covers the same variety - at least none that I've come across.

The VTAC (Viking Tactics) and the Vickers Combat sling by Blue Force Gear seem to be the most popular and of the same basic design.
Of those, I THINK the Vickers leaves a length of sling flapping around when adjusted which tends to have me leaning toward another design.
I DO like the wide "tab" (for quick adjustments) on the above two designs as it looks easy to operate. The Specter "tab" is a length of paracord with a "ball" on the end.

Anyway, the Viking and Vickers MAY work for all of my applications, but I'm not really sure.

On the other hand, I DO know that the Specter Gear slings will work on all of them because the product page shows me that they do.
The prices range from $30 to $45
My only question is whether they are any good?

AR15 (need sight mounted sling swivel)

    Mossberg 500

    AK47 (underfolder model)

Mini 14 (may work w/lever gun)

I'm unsure if the "wrap around" front attachment would interfere with the sights on this one.

So, has anyone had any experience with them?

    Hey Emptymag

Here is something that may help your quest to sling up

    http://grabagun.com/michaels-of-oreg...d-115-cfl.html

Looks like Uncle Mikes makes an adapter for your lever gun, if it doesnt have one.

I havent tried the Specter, so I cant help you there. I run a VCAS on my Colt, its a great sling. I don't think you can go wrong with it, the adjustment system and build quality is fantastic. You can also buy QD portions for it that would extend the length a bit for a longer weapon system.

The Viking Tactics has the extra bit that flaps around FWIW.

Also if you run a basic M4 handguard, Zahal.org (IDF) makes Velcro bands with a sewn in sling attachment point that allows you to move the sling back and out of the way.

    Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the pic and info. ^

Specter has the "wraparound" front mount as an option as well.

I just figured that I'd rather not have junk on the hand guard.
If anyone has any input as to why it may be "bad" to mount to the front sight, I'm all ears.

(like this G.G.&G. front "Sling Thing")

I know that there are mounts that go on the barrel right below the sight as well. Not sure which is best.

I'm guessing that's not completely true, or you would have addressed the Specter Gear sling I asked about.

Keep in mind that I'm not just looking for a sling for an AR15.

I'd prefer to use the same setup on all the long guns listed above if possible.

Its huge. If you are a big person or wear armor all day. OK. For mere mortals its not ideal. Its also not easy to shorten much due to the padded section. Again, big dudes in armor with all sorts of things bolted to their rifle probably love this sling. Its a nice sling.

But if you're in the 5'8-5'10 150-180 range.
    Yeah right man. No way.

Which also means kids wives and other mere mortals as I mentioned.

Good luck on your quest EM. I haven't found a sling yet I truly like. If they made webbing attachments large enough, I'd probably use a seat belt. Something wide and soft but thin. That won't eat you. With a pull adjust like the BFG.

I don't even like the magpul sling...

I'm glad you mentioned all of this, as it's one thing that makes me nervous when I look at these "operator" slings - they look thick, heavy, and stiff.
While I understand the desire for "quality", I don't necessarily need something that will hold up to daily use in combat.

One of the other "pluses" about the Specter Gear sling is that it APPEARS to be not quite as thick as the VTAC and Vickers. The rear is slightly wider and the front narrower - it appears pretty "flexible".

That Sheriff of Bagdad sling mentioned in the post above also looks thinner and quite "supple" (for lack of a better word) - the drawback, if it is one, is that IT isn't as wide in the rear for comfort over the shoulder.

I'm not a big guy at all and don't see much chance of me wearing a tac vest unless the SHTF and I take one off of a corpse.

I think that when I narrow this down, I'll order ONE and see how I like it before getting them for each long gun.

Some say you can yank the POI with a sling attached up there. Meh. Personally I've found that it gets in the way (for me) runnin and gunning, especially going prone with the sling mounted ahead of your support hand.

Blue Force Gear has these guys which are very useful on many different long guns:

The Vikers slings are really nice but you would be find with Spectre too. I did the same thing you are doing, same sling on everything.

Also check out the "Sheriff of Baghdad" sling. Lots of options with a similar price range:
