Re: Input on Specter Gear 2 point Sling OR Suggestions for Similar
I've been using a freebie Magpul MS2 on my AK but I don't really care for it so I ordered the Specter sling. Should be here soon so I'll let you know what I think of it. The MS2 will probably be going on my Sig522 rifle just for the hell of it.

Re: Input on Specter Gear 2 point Sling OR Suggestions for Similar
I took that sling off a rifle I sold. I think I used some quick disconnects on the rail and buttstock for attachment. I'll look for them this weekend and try to take some pics. Pretty much any sling is going to require some type of attachment points.
I'm not looking to sell this, but if you want to try some options on your gun I'd loan the stuff to you."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)

I sent Specter an email with a few questions 2 days ago.
If I don't get a reply by Monday, I think I'll eliminate them from the running on principal.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

This is the clamp I used on the forward rail. The quick disconnect snaps into it.
Here's a pic of the quick disconnects. One plugged in to MagPul stock I had on the gun.
I have an extra one of these I'll give you if you want it. It attaches to the front sight.

Yeah, I don't have a rail to mount anything to and I doubt I ever will. I'm not a "rail" guy.
The side mount (I assume it's a side mount) for the front sight I'd be interested in.
I was just going to order one of these for the time being, but that may be better.

EM,
The bottom picture in my previous post is a GG&G side mount sling thing. It attaches to the barrel, not the front sight.
Here's some pics I found on the net.
Looking through my gun junk drawer, I also found another GG&G sling thing that attaches to the front site.
It is not a quick disconnect.
You are welcome to try these out and keep them both if they work for you.

Re: Input on Specter Gear 2 point Sling OR Suggestions for Similar
Thanks Dave! I'll be glad to give you something for one of those. I'll send you a PM.
After searching and researching, and thinking things over a bit more, I've decided that I'm not as concerned with having the same brand of sling on everything. If I do - great, but if not, no big deal.
I'm going to postpone any sling for the shotgun, as it's a home defense gun first and foremost. I see the sling being more of a hindrance than anything in that role. I may revisit the idea later, but for now, I'm not concerned with the shotgun.
For the lever gun I'm going to try the Boonie Packer Safari Tac.
It should provide all I really need for the rifle for $23 shipped plus $10 for some quick disconnect swivels.
That just leaves the AR15 and two AK47s - one with a fixed stock, and the other an underfolder.
I will either get the Boonie Packer 2 point (3 to choose from), or the Sheriff of Bagdad 2 point.
The Boonie Packer wins on cost hands down at between $19 and $25 shipped and seems like it would work fine.
(shown above is the "cinchable" Boonie Packer - you can cinch up the rear portion to keep it tighter against you)
The SOB looks nice too. ($40 + S&H)
The sling material appears thin and flexible with a narrow strap. I know that a wide strap is more comfy over the shoulder, but I don't plan on doing any marches in full gear either.
The other plus is that it seems to be very "simple" in that there aren't any buckles, or looped over strap material for the back portion which keep the bulk to a minimum and may even allow for it to be cut/shortened if needed.
I'm really drawn to this one actually, and I may even get one of each before equipping any of the others.
Thanks to everyone who has thrown out suggestions and tips thus far.
I tend to overthink things before making decisions, but all the info was helpful to me.Last edited by Emptymag; March 11th, 2013 at 08:59 PM.
