    Default Glock 17 19 26 Gen 3 magazines vs Gen 4 compatibility.

    Hi.

Its my understanding that the Generation 3 Glock 17 and 19 magazines would fit a Glock 26.

Assuming that this is correct, would say a Generation 4 Glock 17 magazine fit a Generation 3 Glock 26?

Hope I have asked this in a clear enough manner.

    Thank you.

May have been simpler to ask if the Generation 3 and Generation 4 magazines for the Glocks 17 19 and 26 are interchangeable.

Gen 3 or 4 9mm mags of any capacity work in any gen 3 9mm glock from my experience. I have a factory 33 rounder that has the ambi cuts and it works fine in my gen 3 G19 for example.

In fact IIRC the only problems you can run into with mag compatibility is if you have a Gen4 Glock with the mag release swapped to left hand control. Then you need a Gen 4 mag with the ambi cuts.

This is correct. Gen 4 mags have a cut on the other side of the mag so if the mag release is swapped the mag will still work. As long as the mag is the same or larger capacity as the original it will work in that gun. You can't, however, use a smaller capacity mag in a gun because it will be too short. IE: A Glock 17 mag will work in a Glock 26, but not the other way around.

Yep. Can use previous gens in a 4. But was told cannot use the gen 4 mags in an older glock.

Gen4 mags work fine in a Gen3 Glock. Gen3 mags work in a Gen4 Glock that is set up for a right-handed shooter. You only need Gen4 mags if the mag release is switched to the opposite side of the pistol frame to accommodate a left-handed shooter.
