Default Looked at a Mini 14 package today

Tell me what you all think of this. I won't name names or locations but it's a store that's been mentioned more than a few times on here and a couple other people were already looking at the same gun before I left. Hell, it could already been gone by now. It was a used but SUPER clean Mini in black synthetic (not wood ) with the later, more desirable 581 serial number. Included were 2 20 round and 3 30 round mags along with ~425 rounds of 5.56 in a can and a sling. I would guess it had less than 100 rounds through it because it was clean. $1400 was the asking price. Thoughts and opinions?

$1400 sounds way steep for a used mini even with all those extra goodies. When all this gun-ban, black rifle, ammo-hoarding mass hysteria dies back down and all that ammo's been shot you've got a $550 rifle and about $100 worth of mags.

Then again, the doomsayers could be right and you'll be glad you did.

$1400 is pretty steep. Even with the mags, assuming they ruger mags and not some KO's. I can't see this setting this high of a price and probably wouldn't consider it scare or no scare for half its price IMO.

Wow...that is steep. And to think I sold my AR and kept my Mini-14 when the panic started, maybe I would have made more money the other way around.

My advice. Get just the Mini-14 mags. The only Mini-14 that will be on any AWB is the one with the pistol grip and folding stock. The standard Minis will still be available even if an AWB passes, just as they were during the last one.

If you have patience you can probably get a brand new Mini for cheaper.

If your real desperate here is my breakdown with PANIC pricing.

    $250 for the ammo

    $50 per mag = $250

$700 for the rifle and that is alot for a used Mini-14 even during the panic. If you wait you can get a new Mini for $800. Probably for $650 to $750 when everything really settles down.

$250 + $250 + $700 = $1200. $1200 is the highest I would go. Honestly this panic is almost over, Just wait a bit and you will save money.

I agree, that the rifle is priced way too high, But I am one of the "doomsayers"
Please let's not be fooled into thinking this is just going away, keep up the good fight write your congressman/senator and keep the pressure on!

In the mean time, Mags and Ammo are starting to dribble back in so be diligent in looking and try not pay too high of a price...

    Good luck, Cb

Pre hysteria you could get a (used) Mini 14 (non 581 series) in the $550 to $650 easily. The 581 series on the higher end but still obtainable if you took your time and looked.

    I'd wait it out!
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

As a Mini owner I'd say that's too steep...

I got mine used in Oct. for $625 with 4-40rd, 2-30rd, 1-20rd and about 250 rds of various 223/556. I know that is pre panic but 1400 is real high. I would sell mine for that!

This was at Target World, not Clayton's.
