Re: Eastern PA OPEN CARRY Picnic - Planning thread
The PA State Gamelands in Fogelsville, PA (intersection of Rte 100 & 78) would be a good place.
Are State Gamelands a no-no for open carry?
I openly carry my Ruger Redhawk on State Gamelands during antlered deer season....

Re: Eastern PA OPEN CARRY Picnic - Planning thread
The Lebanon Palmyra area was originally chose because it was centrally located to three "pockets" of our members: Franklin/Adams county, Scranton/Wilkes Barre area, and eastern Philly.
Looking at a map, it appears that the Hazleton area is geographically central to the Eastern half of the state. However, the geographical center point is not necessarily easily reached by all.
Is anyone close enough to Hazleton to do recon? I found this:
Community Park in Hazle Township offers a relaxing outdoor atmosphere with pavilions, a pond for fishing, picnic areas, sports fields and courts, playgrounds, and walking and running trails.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Re: Eastern PA OPEN CARRY Picnic - Planning thread
Two pieces of bad news in regards to this event:
I contacted the City of Hazleton Rec department, and they confirmed that Community Park was overseen by the township. I contacted them today, and while their 'medium' pavilion (36 x 36) was available for July 19 for the fee of $75, upon receiving the application form (including park rules) I was dismayed to see Rule #6 - "Hunting and possession of firearms are prohibited."
I definitely plan to politely follow up on this issue with the township, but even though the rule is illegal and unenforceable, I don't see the point in intentionally creating a conflict, so this venue is ruled out.
Also, I'm planning on taking the Utah CCW class that's being held in Bucks County. The date for this class is also July 19.
I'm still very willing to help with planning any way I can, but since there's still no confirmed location, perhaps the event should either be called off or moved to a restaurant.
If these issues remain unresolved and there's no one to take the lead on this event, I'll cancel it and shoot for another one in the middle of October.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.
