    I own three .40's (do I get three votes ? )

    S&W M/P
    S&W 411
    Beretta Px4 Storm SubCom

That being said I still think the .45 is more popular.

The reason I have the .40 is because I have been shooting the .40 since 1994 so I am accustomed to the round and the recoil. Plus I like to have interchangable ammo. ,40 is my EDC

    My wife favors the 9mm ( Beretta Px4 )

I dont own any .45's nor do I plan to ...not because of any other reason than having to buy more ammo.

Both guns I have in .40 were because I got good deals on them at the time. I suppose I could have gone either way but I have always bought used when I could to save money. What I buy next will largely be determined by how long this stupid shortage keeps going. Which, by the way, is there an official name for this present annoying crisis other than "the shortage"? The Barackalypse?

That's a good question, I'd have to say .45 acp. With prices going up across the board reloading in this caliber has saved me quite a bit over the years.

I was never really wild about the 40. One should make up their mind and carry either a 9mm or 45. The 40 takes the advantages of both and mixes them into mediocracy.

I'd have to say IMO the .45 is more popular because everywhere i go i see 9mm and .40 s&w on the shelves. They're forever selling out of .45acp. I carry .45 daily on duty and of duty. It's just something about that cartridge that keeps me stickin with it. I've had .40 and I've had 9mm, but i choose the.45.

As far as firearms chambered in the round. If you took all the 1911's together as one firearm I would say that the .40 is more popular. But if you included every 1911 out there on the market I would say .45 is more popular.

.40 seems to be a bit cheaper than .45.

Also .40 seems to be on the rise with LE agencies where as .45 seems to be more popular in the civilian market especially collectors of the 1911.

You can make claims either way. But I don't think you can argue that 9mm is the most popular and is the standard by witch others are compared.

I chose .40 for my primary home defense firearm because it's popular, reasonably priced, modern, and built from the ground up around the HP bullet.

Voted 45acp, as I believe it's more popular overall.

own both... wife shoots & carries a .40

Id say .45 is more popular due to time in existence but the .40 is certainly gaining popularity for LE and people that like a smaller/slimmer carry gun with a lil heat, and/or a few more rounds in the mag.

I like to try all the flavors!

.45 is chambered in more but around me was the last one to dissapear so tells me that less people own .45s around me. I have 3 guns that take .45and have 4 .40 chambered guns. But nothing like the semi auto power of a .45. Now a revolver is a different story
