Machine shops
Does anyone know if there are any machine shops in the Carlisle area that offer classes? I would like to get familiar with a CNC machine and possibly try milling a few receivers at some point in the future.

Re: Machine shops
check the local tech schools for adult evening classes.
its a shame, most machine shop programs are being closed because they are so high capital intensive, and enrollment is low.
i took one at North Montco Tech School. i got my company to pay for it, it was about $1200 i think.
if you're on unemployment, the state will pay for it.

Re: Machine shops
you're probably better off going to the local job shop and seeing if they'll let you hang out a bit if you clean the machines or something. Couldn't hurt to ask.

Re: Machine shops
Harrisburg Area Community College has machining classes at their Midtown campus in downtown Harrisburg. Not sure what they have but you could look into Cumberland Perry VTS.
