Ruger Mini 14 Tactical Question.
Hello all. I just picked up a Ruger Mini 14 Tactical with the ATI Stock and Birdcage Flash Suppressor(threaded barrel) It has a 581 serial number, which is a post 2008 model. The only issue I'm having is I am not sure if its a true tactical model. The top of the receiver is printed "Ranch Rifle" and it has the integrated scope mounts. I dont see any of the stainless steel components that the ranch rifles have. It also has the Ruger stamped 6 position folding stock.
Any ideas?Last edited by Bellerophon; February 22nd, 2013 at 01:13 PM.

Re: Ruger Mini 14 Tactical Question.
If the barrel has a heavier contour to it, it is the actual Tactical variant. My Mini-14 Tactical was in just a synthetic stock and said Ranch Rifle as well.

Re: Ruger Mini 14 Tactical Question.
If I recall correctly, the Mini I had that came with the ATI collapsible/folder was stamped ranch rifle. Mine had a heavy contoured barrel, but DID NOT have the flash hider.

Re: Ruger Mini 14 Tactical Question.
Thank you for the answers. I was under the impression that any of the Tactical Rugers are stamped "Tactical" instead of "Ranch" and have the Threaded barrel and flash suppressor with no stainless parts. However anyone can buy the ATI stock that comes with the Tactical variant so I was not sure. I didn't know if it was a difference in the receiver markings between the 580 and 581 series.

Re: Ruger Mini 14 Tactical Question.
Mine was threaded and had the Ruger Birdcage Flash Suppressor as well. They very well may have just used receivers to start the new models with heavier barrels. I can't say for sure as I have never seen the actual stamp of Tactical.
This was mine below.Last edited by ViperHummel; February 23rd, 2013 at 11:37 AM.
