Movie Mistakes with Firearms

In side stepping the political issues going on with our beloved past time, thought I would see how observant or critical some of you were when it comes to mistakes seen in movies regarding firearms.

Last night I was clicking through Skyfall and noticed the SBR AR at the beginning had it's birdcage flash suppressor upside down. I've seen many over the years (even more as I become more informed).

What else have ya'll seen? Besides the blatant lack of reloads and/or recoil.

In an episode of The Walking Dead, a character shot at some another character with an M-4 that had no rear sight. He didn't just fire away, he took a carefully aimed shot at someone who was running away.

I just watched Skyfall the other night as well but didn't notice the FH. I did notice that the "depleted uranium" rounds couldn't penetrate the backhoe, which I thought was incorrect. I may be wrong but isn't that what the military uses to penetrate "light" armor?

I could spend the next few hours posting all the ones I know of.....

Like the "bolt action" Barrett M82 Mark Walberg uses in Shooter.

Or a more famous Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2 "a Glock 7 porcelain pistol that cost more than you make in a month and is invisible to x-rays.

Come on, westerns have 20-30rds comming from a colt wheel gun. In lethal weapon 50-100 rds could come from a police pistol, and a fully automatic SKS is lethal under water.

Funny you brought this up. I just watched The Rivers Edge again for the first time in about 20 years. The young kid at the end gets ahold of what looks to be a .38 revolver and before they pull away in the car he checks to see how many bullets are in the cylinder. They show three casings in it but all of the primers have already been struck and used.

With regards to The Walking Dead...it boggles my mind that they are so on point with the special effects to the point where I can't even tell how they do some of them but they get the firearms stuff all wrong!

In the pilot episode, Rick tells the deputy to make sure there is a round in the chamber and the safety is off. Its a Glock!
There was another instance with Rick's revolver but I can't remember what it is.
And they never show Daryl cocking his crossbow yet he is popping walkers left and right.

Lol, I saw that this past weekend and also called it out.

Do you know the "why" behind it?

For those that don't:
He was firing some type of low power blanks that didn't have enough power to cycle the weapon. Basically they gave it a realistic flash and boom but took away the realistic function.


Just to continue the thread:
In the movie Sniper 3, Tom Berenger manages to get a "through the scope" head shot on a sniper 'with a pistol' from what appears to be over 100yds away.
