    Default Mini 14 stainless - $1000

Got an update earlier today from a very well known, very respected local shop. A batch of 20 of them came in for 1k each. What are some thoughts/opinions on snagging one while the getting is good considering that ammo is scarce to nonexistent. Do I sit back and wait, look around, or bite the bullet (no crappy pun intended) and grab one?

I'd lean towards an AR for that money. More accurate, lighter and infinitely customizeable.

I'm with S&W -- $1k for a Mini-14 is crazy, It's a Good rifle, but just not $1k good imo. I too would opt for an AR15 style for that kind of coin.

if you really want one that bad, I'd go for the classifieds and see what pops up, A shop down here in VA had one for $979, I had to do a double and then a triple take on the price, Granted I know it isn't, But then it is the same gun, but back when I bought my 182 series I paid $275 otd, Crazy what they want for them nowadays.

I guess the bottom line, There's better rifles out there for that kind of money.
But your money, your purchase, get whatever makes you happy.

    I wouldn't pay $500 for a new Mini-14 let alone $1000.

Mags are scarcer than AR or AK mags.
    Accuracy is lacking IMO.

But that's me, if you want one and have the money buy it, but I have a feeling you'll end up with buyers remorse later.

I also have a mini 14. Love it very few complaints, but I wouldn't ask for nore would I ever expect to pay 1K for a mini-14. You get more when buying an AR.

I have one, bought it for $500 and that came with 8 mags and 550 rounds. I wouldn't spend $1000 for one. They're not match grade accurate by any means, but I've found mine to be accurate enough for what I use it for.

Accuracy is in the 2-3 moa at best unless you want to send it out to be rebarreled and tuned up. Fun gun? Defiantly. I wouldn't pay anything above $750 for a stainless steel synthetic stock version. That my friend is in today's market and when things settle down nothing over $650.

As others have said Ruger Magazines for the Mini-14 are a pain to find and even when we were in the good times, they are still pretty expensive.
