Default "Neutral" Ohio State Police Encounter

As you know, Ohio is a must inform State but this was a unique situation, may have been different if I was pulled over. Was in a car accident in Gahanna Ohio. Approached the officer when he arrived at the scene and told him "not sure what the protocol is but I have a conceal carry and there are firearms in my vehicle." I didn't show him the ID but it was the Utah.

He said "alright" and that was the end of it.

So call it good, positive...I was in a traffic accident and the firearms were a non issue.

I would say it was straight up positive encounter ....... except for the whole reason he was there, hope everyone was okay.

Both you and he acted within the applicable laws. A "win".

Because you shouldnt have to tell anybody, anything, and its horseshit to even have to bring it up.

You have to VERBALLY inform him, but don't need to show him your credential unless he asks for it.

Does OH require you to inform during any LEO encounter or just on a traffic violation/speeding stop?

The Ohio statute begins "If the person is stopped for a law enforcement purpose . . ."
