This would be a little hard to do if one was unconscious after an auto accident.

You must inform for any encounter with a law enforcement purpose, be it a traffic stop or them asking if you saw somebody fitting "x" description, but ONLY if you are actually armed at the time. No gun, no notification.

You have PA plates, yes? And he didn't ask for a LTCF that is good in OH... since our PA LTCF is not honored there. Interesting.

I would say it was a VERY positive encounter just based off that fact... either that or he didn't know a PA LTCF is no good in OH.

    OK.

What if you're armed and you initiate the encounter such as to ask directions?

You weren't "stopped" for a "law enforcement purpose".

After seeing this video, it was all I could do to not be spread out prone as he arrived at the scene.

All joking aside, this officer (the one that helped me out) was nothing but a gentleman.

Why do I get the feeling if you were wearing this when you were in an auto accident and were left unconscious. When you woke up in the Hospital, The Police wouldn't be able to "locate" your firearm.

Good Question. My experience with this officer was positive but if you think about it there are only negatives (where your rights are violated) and neutrals (where law enforcement respects your rights).

I'm even trying to come up with some wacky examples to illustrate a positive encounter and I can't.

-Perhaps, if it was cold outside and he let me sit in the cruiser? But that has nothing to do with firearms.

    -Offered to clean my gun?

I even thought perhaps if he discovered I had a loaded rifle in my trunk (which I didn't) and said, "what a crazy law, I could arrest you for that but I won't" I'd see that as positive but we get on LEO's all the time when they don't follow the law so that would be kind of hypocritical.

In summary, it was positive for me...I have a renewed sense of appreciation for what this particular trooper in Fayette County Ohio does for us.
