cc permit w/ dui

Hello forum I am new here and was wondering if getting a dui 3 years ago would hinder my ability to get a cc permit? Everything to do with the dui had been takin care of I am free and clear of everything, so what is everyones thoughts on this? Btw I live in franklin county

According to the PA statutes a single DUI is not prohibiting unless the conviction is a M1, or 1st degree misdemeanor. The other possibility is that your sheriff could possibly deny you based on the 'character and reputation clause', but that doesn't seem very common unless you are somewhat well known to him.

I had no problem getting my LTCF in october with a DUI on my record from two years ago. It shouldn't prevent you.

what above posters said. although the reputation clause can DEF give sheriff a reason to refuse im guessin.

I actually asked the deputy working when i did my application about my DUI, since one of the questions asks about drug convictions and i didnt want to "lie". He said as long as my fines are paid and i'm not on probation anymore it's not a problem. i guess it could go against your reputation, but I think DUI's are pretty common amongst otherwise law abiding citizens.

Im confident its a rarity getting rejected soley based on a run of the mill dui.

but again, sheriff im guessing can make a judgement call.

You don't need 3.
You can get an M1 with your first DUI. It depends on your BAC, if you had a prior DUI and if there was an accident. And I'm sure there's a lot more that what I listed but these are some of the biggest things factored into it.

What you might be thinking of is the section of the PA UFA that states you are prohibited from possessing a firearm in Pennsylvania if you were convicted of DUI in Pennsylvania on three or more separate occasions within a five-year time frame.
