Default FNX vs FNP, What's the difference?

I have been considering a FN-FNP Tactical(.45) but also see the FNX, they look the same to me. Whats the difference?

I have an FNX9 not the 45, but the main differences are the safety/decocker control lever and mag release are completely different, the slide release is ambidextrous now. The FNX has a little bit lower bore axis. Also the grip texture has changed to more of a Gen4 Glock type and there are front slide serrations now as well. Oh and the FNX has picatinny front rail and has three dot combat sights. Hope this was a little helpful

FN's the 9 and 40 share a frame, and the .45 has all its own.

So the FNX / FNP Differences between the 9 and 40 were more than that of the FNP and FNX in .45 the magazines are the difference.
In order to get intelligent answers you must speak intelligently.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

FNX is a cheaper made gun , cheaper materials and a cheaper feel to it, the FNP is a much better gun, but it lacks the safety feature which i dont mind, if you like SIgs you will like the FNP, operates and takedown the same, as a lefty i love the dual decocker too.

Handle them both you will for yourself how much cheaper the FNX is .

I'm not worried about the safety features, I would probably prefer the FNP but they are going for about 1500 on Broker right now and I refuse to pay that for a used gun as they are no longer in production. I think I may wait till things settle down and just rock my 1911's for now.

I tuned and painted a RIA commander to my liking and it definitely rocks.

In 45. Not much if anything. The later generation FNP's in 45 are what the FNX was for the most part modeled after.

    They should be nearly identical.

The 9's and 40's are what were playing catch up to the 45's which were more evolved in the same 'line' (FNP)

    Thus the name change.

The tactical is it's own beast. It's expensive. When I was FN shopping a year or so ago, it was the same deal. I bought a USG with plans to get the slide milled when I had more time and money. I bought the mounting hardware to get it done. But haven't. The FNP/FNX in 45 is a heavy gun, especially loaded. It's a great shooter. But in a move to standardize handguns I picked up more Glock's, and it's kinda the odd bird out.

Mine will most likely get replaced with the G21G4. The FN is superior in many ways. (Except weight) But, at the end of the day the Glock will get milled for a RDS and have a lower bore axis. Which has become a pet peeve of mine with pistols. I don't like tall guns.

I also hate the thumb safety as it digs into my hand regardless of the position it is in.

there's a shop called surplus city guns just outside of philly that has a NIB FDE FNX tactical for 1175. Classic Pistol has a couple of FNX 45's for around 900+/- as of a few days ago. i have a FNP tactical and it's one of the most accurate pistols i own. at 25 yds I can on average put 4 out of 10 rds in a area the size of a silver dollar and the other 6 rounds all in the 10 ring. the pistol is incredibly accurate but it is a heavy beast and not well suited for concealed carry but a excellent range/home defense gun. i wasn't planning on buying a FNP tactical but tanners had a killer deal on them, $859, so at that price i had no choice but to buy it.
