Default Closing Down The Outdoors in NJ

More genius from the state politburo in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey. You can read the story here.

The state parks listed below are slated for elimination of services and/or closures:
    Brendan T. Byrne State Forest
    Monmouth Battlefield State Park
    Stephens State Park
    High Point State Park
Round Valley Recreation Area (no fishing???)
    Parvin State Park
    Jenny Jump State Forest
    Worthington State Forest
    Fort Mott State Park
Parks slated for partial elimination of services include:
    Ringwood State Park
    D&R Canal State Park
    Washington Crossing State Park
    According to the article:

In addition to the park closures, some 80 parks workers would be laid off as part of the cost-cutting measures and 16 vacant positions would be eliminated.

The layoffs would be effective July 1, but the parks could close before that....

Just another reason for everyone to pull out their Sawzall and start cutting NJ away from the rest of the continent.

Thats a shame. I was to Jenny Jump a few times back when I was in Boy Scouts. It was a nice place to camp.

And why oh why would we need to preserve a battlefield? Lets just throw up some condos over there......its not like anyone died there or anything........

I hiked at Monmouth Battlefield several times, usually in the autumn...the adjoining farmland is usually open as well to walk through...no condos, please!

I can't see fishing being "closed" at round valley...it does say "recreational area" so i'm assuming anything other than fishing may be prohibited...but no further details given in the article...

Does this mean that people can't even hike there? I can't imagine NJ would allow any activity where they can't monitor people.
A few of the parks listed offered some decent hiking.
