You will need Glock 9mm mags (Glock 19 mags will fit flush)

I was told by a Glock armorer at the last Oaks show that nothing else is needed to convert a G23 to a 9mm "G19" except the barrel and new magazine. He said everything else is the same - extractor, recoil spring, etc. He also said the barrel to convert to 9mm is just a standard G19 barrel, nothing special about it.
You do need to use Glock 9mm magazines in place of the G23 40 mags.
In any case, I bought a 9mm Lone Wolf barrel and it works perfectly in a G23.

I have a Glock 27 and have a 40-9 barrel. Basically the same thing but subcompact. Just swap the barrel and use the 9mm mags. Very simple. I've never had a problem with mine. I use it as a 9mm more than a 40sw. Once I get a dedicated 40sw then my G27 will always be a 9mm

I would have GUESSED that the barrels are different because of the OD of the barrel. I know you can fit a .40 barrel in a 9mm slide, so how is it that a factory 9mm barrel will fit in a .40 slide without there being excess clearance around the barrel?

I was under the impression that 9mm "conversion" barrels have the OD of a .40 bbl and ID of a 9mm bbl
