Response from Senator Toomey
I had written Senator Toomey to encourage him to vote no on any bill that:
* Seeks to ban the so-called assault weapons
* Seeks to limit magazine capacities
* Seeks to criminalize private sales
* Seeks to implement any manner of registration
We do not expect our Representatives to put the Citizens at risk by
empowering the criminal element. The measures that are currently being
debated will result in criminals having the advantage over law abiding
Citizens.
Please stop putting Citizens at risk with laws that have dire unintended
consequences. Vote "NO" to any anti 2nd Amendment, anti Gun, anti
Constitutional measures.
This was his response (and I'm not impressed):
Thank you for contacting me about gun control. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you may know, January 16, 2013, President Obama announced a variety of gun policy measures in response to the Newtown, CT killings. I therefore value knowing your views on this important issue, which is important to me as I carefully review the President's proposals. Like many Pennsylvanians, I believe that Second Amendment rights are important and must be protected, but there may be areas of agreement with the White House that can be addressed to improve public safety. I also believe that people who use guns in an illegal manner or harm others with them should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
That said, we have consistently observed that mass killings are the result of serious mental illness. We therefore need to better protect ourselves from mentally ill individuals who seek to carry out such atrocities, including improved background checks. We also need to review and improve how we take care of the mentally ill. As I continue working with my Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle on public safety, please be assured that I will keep your views about firearms in mind.
Thank you again for your correspondence. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Pat Toomey
U.S. Senator, Pennsylvania

Much better than Casey's response. Not the best, though.
Je suis déplorable

Re: Response from Senator Toomey
I wrote back and suggested that any vote for Obama's proposals is a vote to send you back to your old job or to no job. My family is in support and will vote the same way. My friends are in support and will vote the same way. Law abiding citizens "should not" be penalized for those actions of the mentally ill. Of course, my words were different but you get the gist.

Re: Response from Senator Toomey
I got the same email today aswell.. I'd much rather know what his stance is, at least Casey has the balls to come out and say which side he's on.. I continiously write them both, and can't stand getting the same response from Casey which says "As you all know, Im a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Pa has a long tradition of sporting and hunting" and blah blah fkn blah.. Then goes on to say he supports limiting our second amendment rights and supports Feinstein's "declaration of war" on gun owners.. It makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.. Whoever takes his emails most likely hates me because they get about 15 emails a week just from me

Re: Response from Senator Toomey
This reply is less pro-Obama then what he was sending a couple weeks ago.
We need to keep up the pressure. He needs to understand we have firm expectations if he wants a job.
