Marlin 336 Help
Hi guys,
Bought a used 30-30 and want to get it back to iron sights. I removed the scope and rings but the base won't come off. I can't seem to remove the screws holding it on. Loktite or something is probably the culprit. I don't have a vise, and just basic tools.
After I get the base removed I want to also remove the front and rear sights and have Williams Fire Sights or XS Sights installed.
Anyone decent smiths in the area that can complete this form me? I don't think my local guy at DNA does a lot of gunsmith work, if any. I know this isn't a huge job, but I'd rather pay someone to have it done right.

Re: Marlin 336 Help
I've had good luck with a hair dryer on the screw for about a minute or so. I also have some small screwdrivers that make it easy to get on the screw without stripping the head out. Most of the screws for bases do have some kind of loktite on it. Good luck. Hope all goes well. I to have a 336. Never fired it yet put its in my plans. Il going to stick to open sights as well.
