    Default Fl "Resident" carry permit question.

    I haven't checked it out yet but I was wondering if owning property in Florida would make it possible to get a Florida "Resident" carry permit?

    I have a place in Naples and wondered if that would help in the process.

    Florida has to be you primary residence in order to get a resident CCW. IE drivers license is from FL. Are you unable to get a PA LTCF? If so, UT and AZ non resi are still an option.

    First, what is the difference between a FL 'resident' permit and a 'non-resident' permit? For many states, such as PA and Utah, there is no difference, it is the same permit.

    Second, a holder of a FL permit need only maintain residency in Florida, it does not have to be primary for your FL permit to be honored in PA...

    2. If you are a dual resident of Pennsylvania and Florida you need not apply for a CCP in Pennsylvania if you currently hold a CCP from Florida. You must, however, carry
    with you proof of your Florida citizenry/residence along with your CCP identification when you are carrying a concealed firearm either on your person or in a vehicle.

    Hope this helps.

    My residency is in Pa., I have a CCW here in Pa. and I have a second vacation place in Fl. which I only spend about a month a year in Fl.

    I was hoping since I own property and pay taxes in Fl., I could weasel myself Fl residency permit. I only want it for the added states that Pa. doesn't have reciprocal CCW privileges with.

    There is no difference between a resi and non resi FL permit. That's why the AG is a moron.

    You can get a non resi FL CCW. It's pretty easy.

    In the 1930's uniformly. But also per county somewhere back in the late 1800's. Although, they are often called a license to carry firearms today.

    I challenge you to find a Proper Name in Pennsylvania's statutes for the permit/license.

    I didn't see anything mentioned about residents of a "third" state carrying in PA with a non-resident Florida permit. How does this affect our neighbors from NJ?

    Simple. If you have a FL CCW:

    1. you're a FL resident - you are reciprocated in Pa;
    2. you're a Pa resident - your FL license is not recognized in Pa after 6/8/13;
    3. you're a resident of ANY other state - your FL license is not recognized in Pa effectively NOW.

    Regardless of state of residency, FL CCWs ar still valid for carry IN A VEHICLE by statute (18 Pa CS 6106(b)(11)). The modified reciprocity agreeement does not affect that.

    My understanding is that a Florida license does have an address on it, and does not specify whether you are a resident or not. Thus the determination of whether you are a Florida resident or not is made by the license itself, but rather by whatever other ID you have (typically your Driver's License).
