This post contains the procedure for closing ads and explains why you need to report ads older than 1 month to a forum moderator to close or change the prefix.

"Default Closing your own ads... a "How To"... you MUST do this.
if the ad is under 1 month old, use the following procedure. if older than 1 month, report the post as "old ad cannot close"

to CLOSE your ad, open your ad, hit "edit", when the editing window opens hit " go advanced".
change the PREFIX of your ad to [CLOSED].. that is ALL.

do not use "thread tools" to CLOSE your ads, that merely makes it so you cannot edit the ad further.

this process is found in the ad forum rules.

note, failure to follow the ad forum rules will result in a loss of posting privileges on this site.

so go close your ad.

Could this information be incorporated into the classified rules and forum rules? It may help with many of the ads that are not closed properly or as in many cases, just marked sold and left as an active post.
