Default Gauging interest in a D.A.R.K. Tactical Aid Course

    Hello all,

I am in the process of trying to set up a class with the guys from Dark Angel Medical LLC in regards to hosting a class.

I am looking to see if there is any interest in taking the D.A.R.K. Tactical Aid Course offered by Dark Angel Medical LLC.

The company provides medical training for LE/MIL/Civilians.

Here is a quote from the company:

Dark Angel Medical, LLC, is proud to offer training and instruction in the use of the D.A.R.K. The Tactical Aid Course fills a niche between military self-aid/buddy care training and civilian EMS training and is geared towards those with little to no medical training or background. It provides the student with critical, need-to-know information, which can be utilized in a myriad of situations and stresses the ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ principle as well as our own principle of “Simplicity Under Stress”.

This is what the class consists of:

•Physiological and Psychological reactions to environmental stress
•The importance of having the proper Combat Mindset
•Basic Anatomy and Physiology of life-sustaining systems
    •H, A, B, C’s—Hemorrhage, Airway, Breathing and Circulation
•Breakdown and usage of Individual Med Kit components
•Proper stowage and employment of the IMK
    •Hands-on application of the IMK
•Basic and Advanced Airway management -treating and monitoring tension pneumothorax, sucking chest wound and flail chest
    •Airway adjunct device placement-Nasopharyngeal Airway
•Basic First Aid and Advanced wound care
•Application of Bandages and Hemostatic Agents
    •Application of tourniquets
•Recognition and Treatment of various injuries (Gunshot, Laceration, Burn, Airway, Head, Orthopedic, Environmental)
•Recognition and treatment of hypovolemic (hemorrhagic) shock
•Moving and positioning victims with various injuries
    •Response to active shooter situation
•Proper use of cover and cover vs. concealment
•Casualty recovery in an Active Shooter situation
    •Mass casualty triage procedure
•Emergency Medical Dialect/Lingo (911 protocol, cooperation with LE, Fire and EMS and First Responders)

    Hardware/Kit

    •Note pad and pen/pencil/Sharpie
•Individual First Aid Kit—If you choose to. All training materials are provided.
•Clothing suited to strenuous type activity as well as being seasonally appropriate
    •Appropriate foot wear
    •Knee and Elbow pads (optional)
    •Gloves (optional)
    •An open mind

Many of us train with firearms several times a month and I think that we should also have some sort of training in regards to dealing with gun shots or other medical emergencies, thats why I am looking to host this class.

The course is 2 days in length with a total of 16 hours of classroom work to include slide presentations, videos, question and answer sessions and hands-on practical skills application. The price of the calss is $450 (This will also include the actual D.A.R.K. med kit which is $159.95 on it's own)

We are looking for a minimum of 15 students for the class. If we get enough people to host the class, it will most likely be held at the Guthsville Rod & Gun Club in Orefield, PA. Once I get more info from Dark Angel Medical, I can provide a time frame for the class.

If anyone is interested, just post to this thread.

    Hello all,

For those interested, we have several months before this class would actually happen.

Once we meet the minimum amount required for the class (15 people), we can set everything in motion and get an actual date.

The class will be in about 3-4 months at the minimum. This is why we are gauging interest now, to see if we can set this class up for some time in the summer.

The class will be held from 0830-1730 in 2 days, all to be held indoors.

So pass the word around and let's see if we can at least get 15 people for this class.

Would that be on a weekend? If so, I would be interested as well.

So far we are at 5 (including myself).

I know there has to be others out there that would be interested in this type of class.

Remember, if we get enough people (15 minimum) the class will be held in about 4 months. Ample time for people to get the cash together.

    No problem. I totally understand.

Total now is 5 with a possible 6th person.

We are getting closer to the minimum needed.
