Unhappy Mrs.
Not sure if this is the proper forum for this...............
New gun owner here with a confused and unhappy wife. She was not to keen on me getting into shooting, let alone owning weapons. So after a few purchases of guns, mags, ammo, etc,.......it was time for a safe. I bought a 14 gun Stack-On. Fireproof and heavy. To put securely in the basement, locked at all times. Now she's freaking a bit and wants it all moved to the garage, which is also secure, and alarmed.
Thoughts on this?

As long as it's secure, I don't really think it matters where you put it.

Re: Unhappy Mrs.
What is her actual concern with having it in the basement?

Re: Unhappy Mrs.
Ahh, the irrational thought that they're going to just jump up and start shooting.
Your best bet is to work towards getting her comfortable with them. Probably the best way to do that would be to get her to shoot, but not shoot with you. If you could find another woman that would take her out to shoot, she'd probably feel more comfortable around them.
Another thing, you might want to point her to some recent articles about home invasion robberies that have been occurring all around the country. Show her were people have actually defended themselves with firearms. There's tons of cases where woman and even teens have successfully defended their lives from invaders.
A firearm is nothing more than a tool to help keep you and your family safe.Last edited by streaker69; February 9th, 2013 at 08:25 PM.

Re: Unhappy Mrs.
You should have discussed this before you got married. In my opinion guns and how the family is protected is about the third most important issue to deal with before geting married.
That being said I would try to adress her fears with provable stories and statistics in support of the need for a gun in todays world. Try not to overwhelm her and have her become completly anti.
Good luck. Some people just plain suck.

I would be worried about the dampness of the garage.
Jimmy cracked corn and HE didn't care! Why should I?

Maybe he wasn't considering owning guns when they got married?

I would not make any more concessions beyond the safe in the basement as it sets a precedent.
