Default A Pennsylvania politician that we can be proud of....

“The power of the sword, say the minority..., is in the hands of Congress. My friends and countrymen, it is not so, for The powers of the sword are in the hands of the yeomanry of America from sixteen to sixty. The militia of these free commonwealths, entitled and accustomed to their arms, when compared with any possible army, must be tremendous and irresistible. Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress has no power to disarm the militia. Their swords and every terrible implement of the soldier are the birthright of Americans. The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments but where, I trust in God, it will always remain, in the hands of the people. Whereas civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.”

    Tench Coxe – 1788, A Pennsylvanian

Where are these legislators when we need them? Instead we get weasels and suck ups like Bob Casey, who I am sure would not be able to comprehend this quote if he ever read it. But, I think I will send it to him anyway.

Both Casey and Toomey said yea to the Patriot Act. Pretty much leaving us out in the cold should Obama and the boys deem us a threat.

Toomey emailed me back (generic email obviously) but was pretty firm on his support for the 2nd amendment.

Didn't know about him supporting the Patriot Act though....

Lets be a little more accurate here. A lot of citizens had flintlock rifles, not muskets. The military had muskets. Flintlock rifles were much more deadly as they were more accurate out to further distances. The deadliness of the musket was through sheer volume of fire from a skirmish line.

Isnt it ironic how the numbskulls running our government today are trying to take away weapons that "look like" military style weapons while having no functional comparison, when in fact, back when the second ammendment was written, citizens had more lethal firepower than the military?

A salient point....I was thinking the other day after watching the NRA clip on the Texas ranger's interview. There has never been a time in this country that LEO's had superior fire power over civilians. We never had to be concerned over the military because of the Posse Comitatus act.

Now, not only do they put law abiding citizens at a disadvantage, they are arming LEOs with military technology to "monitor" the activities of law abiding citizens as well as criminals.

Read a news post on FB that a drone strike has been authorized on this rampaging former cop. Of this happens, the the libs praise the abilities of the govt killing a crazy cop killer, it will be a huge precedence to use it against any person the government deems a terrorist, domestic or otherwise.

Every incident since Ruby Ridge and Waco has been. Test of pushing the envelope to see how citizens react. If anyone believes this isn't going to expand, they have already escaped reality.
