Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
Everything is a backroom deal anymore because if the people really knew how the .gov bribe each other for their support of different bills the American people would eventually begin to wake up and smell the roses.

Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
No deals on our right, no deals!!! We're no going to institute one more gun law, hell no!!! Schumer can stick it where the sun don't shine, no bargaining no deals. NO is the answer!! Two democrats a Rhino and one a compromiser, no deal!!! No new laws, in fact lets see about repealing a few and make it crime with real prison time to violate the 2nd amendment of the Constitution.

Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
Anymore? Eventually? Perhaps we have a naive view of our history. This has been going on for well over 200 years. The founding fathers had some serious differences, but they were wheeler-dealers; otherwise we'd still be part of the British empire. If you haven't seen the film "Lincoln," it's worth a couple hours of your time. As they say, two things you never want to see made are sausage and laws.

Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
Clinton did something similar to get the Feinstein ban through Congress.
Later he bawled about "These courageous Congress people laid down their careers to vote for 'gun safety'". He sounded like a cow while he said this, like their willingness to accept Clinton bribes made them into "heroes".
We have to find out who is getting paid what, expose this dirty deal to light of day and make sure that these people SUFFER for accepting a bribe. We can discover this with friends in the Senate. Then we let the world know.

Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
We need to get them out of these back room deals. They probably are going to try it on amensty. Republicans think they will get more latino votes, when in reality they will just hand more votes to the democrats who ( TODAY) seem more concerned with taking our gun rights away.
IF republicans sell us out on amnesyt or our guns I encourage people to rebel and vote third party. If there is going to be another war between the states or revolution I like the demographics of the country alot better now ( based on who would line up with liberal or conservative principles) and the fact we have guns.I offer discounts on freeze dried foods, knives and other prepping products.

Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
From the article:
Currently, background checks are required only for sales by the nation's 55,000 federally licensed gun dealers, but not for gun show, person-to-person sales or other private transactions.

Re: Senators seek back room deal on firearm background checks
I was a Libertarian for a time. Thirty Parties are an appealing idea. They don't have much experience running campaigns and worse don't have much experience governing.
The GOP for various reasons has decided that its interests lie inside of the Beltway.
The Democrats were not always gun control fanatics. John Kennedy was a member of the NRA. He collected Automatic firearms. Hubert Humphrey talked of our "right to keep and bear arms". Even today Conservative Democrats still exist and still will stick up for us. Jack Murtha, for all of his antics at the end of his life, was a good friend to gun owners.
Our mission is to convince both Parties that it's not in their interests to mess with us.
Gun owners have to put out markers to these people. When they do right by us we have to do right by them. Sometimes, to quote the "Godfather" you have to show "Friendship first".
How many here support their local Congress person when they vote your way? How about a new candidate who needed a helping hand with donations or signs?
How many of you donated money? How many of you watched a poll or did some "grunt work" for a Politician? How many of you wrote a note to the paper to support a politician?
Anyone here ever write a nice "Thank You" note to a Politician when they stood up for us? Send them some money "To keep the Brady Campaign from defeating you next time around".
Anyone here ever met a Politician at their local rifle range? Let them enjoy our sport?
We're so busy being angry that we don't realize that these people are people. They can be influenced.Last edited by GeneCC; February 12th, 2013 at 12:03 AM.
