How often do you oil your revolver/pisol?
Hello,
I have switched to a stainless steel revolver for my edc and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how often I should oil it. Due to me carrying it constantly it gets exposed to moisture outside every day, so I was just wondering how to best protect it from rust. Also if you could let me know what particular product you find works the best.
Thanks ahead of time for any replies.

Re: How often do you oil your revolver/pisol?
I have a stainless Ruger SP101 357 for my carry gun during summer months. I usually put a few hundred rounds through it over the winter without cleaning it. When its time to start carrying it I give it a good cleaning and only use a drop or two of oil where necessary. I then go to the range and shoot five or ten rounds of carry ammo through it for peace of mind. From there I simply look it over every couple of weeks to check for any problems such as lint or surface rust. I carry it iwb at my appendix so I have gotten some rust on the cylinder release because my holster doesn't have a sweat shield. One drop of rem oil and a few strokes of the cleaning brush quickly take care of that. I suggest just keeping an eye on it. If its getting wet I'd personally be more worried about the ammo than the gun.

A quick wipe with one of these everyday keeps everything nice and shiny.

Also I give my Sig a wipe down with rag and lightly lube it once a week.

Every time I shoot it I break it down and clean it. Otherwise I might wipe it down twice a month or so. (I do NOT carry it every day)

After every time I shoot I clean them. Sometimes if I know I will shoot again very soon with a particular gun I may skip one.

I own a Hi-Point C9 and 995TSRD. What is this oiling and breaking down that everyone is speaking of?

I carry my EDC 60% of the time IWB in a crossbreed Supertuck . It gets a lot of lint in the nooks and crannies so I usually just break it down and clean it once every two weeks or so. I use Hoppes oil cloths for a quick wipe down.
