Hidden Gem?
Hey guys, finally closed on my Father-In-Law's house after it sat for 2 years. Our realtor took me aside and handed me a handkerchief after the closing and told me that this has been found in the back of a drawer in a section of the house that my F-I-L never used.
possibly a .32... says "H&R Double Action" on the top... can't make out the stamps on the barrel yet. Any ideas? and should I bother trying to restore it at all? Fits nicely in the hand, wouldn't mind having a working piece of history even if it does have a few pits in the steel.
the rust doesn't look nearly as bad in real life...Last edited by Shadow8088; February 6th, 2013 at 11:21 PM.

H&R = Harrington & Richardson, I believe... Now owned by Remington but originally shut down in 1986...
I would take it to a gun buy back, j/k!Last edited by ah0873; February 6th, 2013 at 11:23 PM.

Re: Hidden Gem?
Yup, Harrington and Richardson out of Worcester, Mass.. Guns not worth a lot, but might be fun to clean up and see what she looks like. I'd rub it down with 0000 steel wool and see if the rust is just surface, and if it is, finish cleaning then use my favorite Brownelle's Oxpho Blue lor Oxpho Blue cream. I wouldn't sent it out to have it re-finished, cost of that would be about equal to guns value ! You should be able to get grips cheap at numerich. Enjoy the project if you decide to do it - always nice to have a gun that was in the family!

Re: Hidden Gem?
You could always use elctrolysis to remove the rust. It'll get down in to even the smallest nooks and crannies.

Electrolysis is pretty impressive at what it can do. I have used it for other hobbies that I have and it's pretty cool how it works. BTW if you electrocute yourself, it's NOT my fault. Do this at your own risk.

Re: Hidden Gem?
Not much value there. I would say it has more "value" as a project to restore, if you are into that sort of thing.
Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.
