Default Officially been made "Training Officer" for my gun club!

Frontier County Gun Club in Chambersburg. I'll be offering a mix of classes this year from NRA Rifle to Concealed Carry to bushcraft (Cub Scouts welcome!) to private lessons to guest instructors and more specialized classes.

The concealed carry course is not required in Pennsylvania but some people feel a need due to inexperience with a pistol but would like to start carrying right now. This class is a mixture of a couple of classes in I believe Wisconsin and Michigan.

Another class topic is Home Defense. Is birdshot a good HD round? We'll see what it does to meat in under 5 yds and 10 yds. What round over penetrates? We'll have a section of wall and you'll get to see what an FMJ vs HP vs frangible round does. We'll also discuss concealment vs cover, what types of features a home has that are good for stopping bullets and what you need to keep in mind now to help prevent collateral damage in the future.

    Other class topics are:

    Mosin Nagant 101
    AK-47 101
    Bushcraft/Fire
    Bushcraft/Field Engineering
    Self Rescue
    and a lot more!

I need to coordinate this with the higher ups in the program but I have permission to caryr out a WINTER SEED! That's a Winter Appleseed Project for you cooks out there!

I'm also open to helping Scouts get a few of their badges so I need to talk to the local Scouting group.

The club is at capacity right now with a waiting list but April 1st more slots should open up. We're at about 200 people right now.

Any questions, feel free to message me!

Thanks! I'm trying to stay away from uber-tactical (unless someone interesting from outside comes in) and want to keep it more educational for people who, in a haste, bought firearms due to the current talk going on. I'd prefer to get them trained up to at least be safe with the gun.

And the other classes are going to be a lot of fun. I'll be checking with the local scout groups and inviting them out. The field engineering is especially interesting!

Wishing you the Best of Luck!

We have been doing some things with the scouts.
It's been a rewarding experience for both them and the folks we have helping out.

    Reading forums.
Oh, you mean with the scouts?

I don't organise it, just participate. I help out with the black powder.

We gave a group come in and first they get a good safety talk. They are then broken up into manageable groups.
    They get to shoot:
    trap (shot guns)
.22 rifles ( i think they set up some silloette targets for them to knock down.
blackpowder flintlocks (we usually load these for them)

seems, i'm missing something, but don't recall what.
it usually only takes up a morning so it's not too hard to get volunteers from each of the disciplines to help out. We have an excellent organiser who sets the whole thing up.
