I would imagine any gunsmith worth his/her salt knows how to work on a 1911. If they don't, then I don;t think I could trust them with any gun.

The main smith at Sarcos in Easton worked for Kimber and even setup their 1911 production lines ... May be a good place to start.

    well Ok Guys
I for sure will not say all gun smiths can work on
    and build HIGH quality 1911's
there is a big difference between working on one and enhancing one
one is basic skill's, one is having some above average abilities and make pieces of art in my eye's rather than just installing parts on one!

I have a 10 mm I am looking to build up to a more reliable and accurate gun, with some idea's on what I want done
I am looking to find a Smith in PA that has build some 10mm 1911 framed pistols and see what they have done and what they suggest, and then take it from there

Won't install a thumb safety, barrel bushing,or restake your plunger tube but, if you want a custom 1911/ BHP that flat out RUNS, call him. One of a handful of best 1911/BHP smiths in the world. Oh, did I mention he's in Watsontown?

Check out Jim Milks at Innovative Custom Guns. He was formerly the gunsmith at Evolution Gun Works (EGW) in Quakertown but has started his own company.
