Concealed Carry Permit Questions

Hey all. So I sent in my app for my permit at the beginning of January and have not heard anything back yet. I was wondering how long it usually takes to hear back from the county? I know it takes longer than Westmoreland County, but I didn't expect it to take 3+ weeks! I had no trouble purchasing my new gun last fall (Ruger LC9) and have never had any legal trouble of any kind. I did see the story on the news about the State's computer system being down, but I sent my info in far before they updated their system. I will definitely refile after the alotted 45 days, but I really hope that I don't have to. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I also have not heard back and sent mine in January3rd but i have heard on the forum they are experiencing high volume of apps1300 a day so I'm figuring sometime in February also I think the 45 days is 45 business days m-f so 9 weeks I could be wrong though

Definitely not - it's statutorily defined as calendar days. Note: do not count the day of application as day #1.

Franklin County I think was 2-3 weeks but there are a lot of people applying now so yours will propably be a little delayed. You can always call the sheriffs dept and get some input. They'll probably say the same thing. If you were able to buy a hand gun your good to go for a permit. Its pretty much the same back round check. You'll have it soon

It was 30 calendar days from submitting via email to getting the yellow card in the mail.

Finally got my yellow card yesterday! Thirty days exactly from sending it in. Thanks to everyone for the info!

What it's worth, I mailed mine (like in an envelope and put a stamp on it) on 1/10 and got my yellow card yesterday (2/9). Of course I had to wait all weekend on top of it with the card staring at me... itching for a break tomorrow morning.

I did the exact same thing. It was a killer staring at it all weekend haha

I applied on Jan. 19. Yellow card arrived this morning.
