Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
I wonder how effective it would be to just tell the people how pathetic and disgusting they look surrendering arms for meager sums of govt. money. DISGUSTING!

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
I mean, I've been looking to add an AR to keep all my AKs company. Wonder if I can pick one up for $300 cash...
And the AKs are always looking for companions tooSafety is a good tool for tyrants; no one can be against safety.

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
Technically they are not buying the firearm. There is no transfer to another person.
The people are simply turning in a firearm, that will be destroyed, no questions asked. And for their time they get a gift card with cash, sneakers, etc.
Most of these events are simply 'Feel Good' Events, where they can write about how many firearms they took off of the street.
The truth is many, if not most of the turned in guns would never have been used in a crime unless they were stolen from their owners. Some are junk, some are grandpas old gun (sometimes a priceless war relic), some are dead spouses collections. I have never seen the corner gang turn in their guns to get some sneakers.

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
But that is a quid pro que, they infact did purchase the firearm, they exchanged something for something, if they do not transfer it, it is a violation, otherwise I could do the same without getting into trouble.
Hey everybody, I am going to run a private gun turn in. Give me your shootin' irons and I will give you a giftcard from Wawa/Sheetz. Apparently it's legal, I will ask no questions so there will be no legal trace of the exchange to prove you gave me a damn thing . . . THEN I promise I will destroy that object that has no associated paperwork to prove you gave me in the first place because its a no questions asked policy.
BTW: If any of you pricks show up in my yard to outbid my Wawa/Sheetz gift card I'll kick your ass! Run your own "buyback". LolLast edited by dunno; January 31st, 2013 at 10:59 AM.

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
As GunLawyer001 has stated in a parallel thread just the other day, "Cops can't legally ban pedestrian traffic or legally-parked vehicles nearby, even if the pedestrians or the cars have some signage. Print up your T-shirts now, "I BUY RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS & PAY TOP DOLLAR, NO QUESTIONS ASKED", for example," I am sure you cannot legally bar us, either.
Be aware -- some of us just might show up. I think this is going to be a trend. Now the words are out that people can do, and have done, this. There is probably going to be a flash mob of PAFOA members with cash in hand lurking near any gun buyback event from now on...

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
If we turn each gun buyback event into an impromptu gun show (with perhaps an OC moment on top of it, unlike in most actual gun shows), then it would certainly be the strongest disincentive to holding any more such buyback that we can achieve, I think. In additional to getting the opportunities to pick up some long arms for cheap.
