    Default Police trade-ins

Has anyone ever bought a police trade in gun? I've looked around recently and haven't came across anything that caught my eye. Anyone know of a good retailer or have any experience with trade ins?

Why a police trade in, if I may.

I've seen good prices on them, but they're always sold out or not what I'm looking for. Just another range gun to play with.

Local shop had a few G37 PSP trade ins awhile back for $265 with NS and 3 mags. Still kicking myself for not buying one, but I was already there to buy my G22

I have a police trade in S&W Model 10. It looks brand spanking new. Cops carry their guns a lot and most shoot them very little.

The Beretta family is a bit different. The Beretta 92 has a 10,000 round service life. If a cop shoots 500 rounds a year, his gun would have reached the end of its life when he is eligible for retirement. I learned this years ago when the police force where I lived was replacing its Beretta 92s with Schloks. The justified the wholesale replacement by saying that most of the Berettas had reached the end of their life and needed to be replaced anyway.

Forgot to mention that I have an S&W J frame that a retired cop traded in at an LGS. The bluing is nearly all gone, the inside grip panel was worn smooth but the gun locks up like new. Carried a lot and shot very little.

I have many times, currently have one it's a G17 and it shoots great. Most often with police trade ins is they are carried alot yet shot a little.

Ah...ok. I thought maybe a novelty thing or something.

Yea, you see some good prices them. Some I have looked at in the past had holster wear, and were priced accordingly. I'd bet the farm none of them were shot much. A lot of the blokes I worked with eons ago shot enough to qualify and that was it, so you got a gun, cheap, that maybe needed a little refinish, but didn't have much shooting time on it.

I haven't heard of this before. Where would someone find police trade in guns?

Most gun shops have them when they are available or they can get them. The major wholesalers have them so ask your local guy.

What happens is that when Splock convinces some police agency to buy Schlocks, they buy all the guns that the department has as part of the deal. Those then get sold to wholesalers to boost their revenue stream.

Anyone know the name of the shop in Uniontown that deals a lot with police trade ins? I bought a G17 there years ago but can't remember the name.
