Did you have to get a background check or take a safety/training class before you married your wife? Would people put up with that ? Or a "No marriage licenses until further notice" sign at the courthouse?

The right to bear arms - is not a privelege. The law gives them 45 days to do their job - and there's no "*If our systems are cooperating" clause.

Just my spin on things. It's not up to a clerk to decide law IMHO.

Thumbs up Re: NO PISTOL PERMITS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

I realize that this is a serious subject but. The wife and I did practice just about every night before we got married 41 yrs. ago. I guess you could call it on the job training.

Agreed. We're getting conditioned to these laws. Not good.

At one level the whole background check idea is a joke anyway. Just saw on Fox news that in 2010 there were 6 million background checks conducted. Out of that number 72,000 were denied. Of that number there were only 44 referrals for prosecution. Doesn't seem like the government cares all that much about the 'wrong' people trying to buy guns.

I'm hoping it's not retaliation for the group at last nights meeting petitioning the sheriff to clarify his 2A stance.

lol im not saying anything about not issuing permits to anyone im for background checks to keep the guns out of people who are not allowed to own them

you are comparing marriage to guns totally different things here there is nothing wrong with a safety class it's not pass or fail it teaches you basic fundamentals of firearms which everyone should know, im not turning this into a debate of right and wrong here, im just stating that anyone can get a permit with no prior knowledge of using a gun " in my opinion they should have some kind of basic fundamentals "

"shall not be infringed".....all of the above comprise infringed.

    Commit a crime....do the time.

    Be law abiding....leave us alone.

I find it so ludicrous that the 2A is there to protect you from them, but them decides if YOU can have a permit......talk about upside down

Then by that reasoning parents should be required to take parenting classes before having kids. Anyone can have kids with no prior knowledge. Far more harm is done in this country by bad parenting than by gun accidents.

Yup, by law they cannot refuse an application. If you attempt to give it to them, they must take it, and then they have 45 days to tell you what they are going to do with it.
Let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst.
