VZ Grips for RIA 1911
Does anyone have a Rock Island Armory that is wearing VZ Grips? I am curious because on their site, they have listed "Rock Island Ambi Cut" for pistols with Ambidextrous safety... Is this something I would need to look at if installing my own Ambi-safety on a RIA or are the Factory Ambi's different??
Kind of a few questions there lol
Thanks!
Rick

Re: VZ Grips for RIA 1911
Realistically, it doesn't matter if the grips are cut for an ambi safety or not. If you have an ambi safety on your gun, but the right grip gets in the way, it's pretty easy to sand it down and solve the problem. However, most ambi safeties are very similar in dimensions, so if the grips are cut for an ambi safety, you shouldn't have a problem.
Everyone should have an AK-47

Re: VZ Grips for RIA 1911
Well, that is why I asked... I know that one can sand down the grips but when you pay $70 for some grips, you may not want too haha I may just play it safe and order the ones that are specific for RIA 1911s if that is what I get...
Thanks for the pictures, Qik!! The safety isn't affected at all by the grips??Last edited by Itsricmo; January 28th, 2013 at 09:05 PM.

Why Thank You!
That is an Ed Brown safety. It was a stock RIA GI model when I got it. I put Wolf springs in it, polished the feed ramp, new sear spring tuned to have a 5.5-6lb pull. Ed Brown trigger. Shoots like a dream!

lol Pretty much exactly what I plan to do to mine when I get it! In due time of course haha
I take it that the Ed Brown Safety clears the VZ Grips?

Here's a full size 9mm tactical with slimline VZ's Operator II's. Clears the stock ambi safety no problem and are grippy as hell.....

Awesome! Thank you for the pictures, both of you! Makes buying them easier on me! I was looking at the Aliens or Simonich Gunner grips. Probably in OD/Army Green or Desert Tan/Brown. Something that would go good with Multicam
FLICK, what do you have on the front of the grip, some of that neat-o grippy tape? (lacking the name in my memory lol)
