They had a proposal a few weeks back that if you turned in an assault gun (whatever that term is) any type you would be eligible for a tax break,, WTF. Idiots.

Do you have a link to the info? Would love to see how they try to justify that one.

It's a win-win, the people looking to get rid of their guns get more than they would have with the buy back, gun owners get some nice deals on guns that were destined for the scrap heap, and taxpayers are saved from funding this nonsense (I know a lot of money comes from donations, but you still have to pay the police to organize it, etc.)
Only dealers in PA can buy handguns "out on the street", they have to sell at their place of business or sanctioned event.

I'm in the camp that these are illegal since the cops are not FFL's.

I'm also going to yet again throw it out there that the guy that runs the Pittsburgh buybacks is also the head of the Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Association and he sells parts at shows.
    Seems strange does it not?

No friggin way anyone is going to convince me that all these guns end up destroyed.
Look at that pic in the link or the cop carrying guns down the street, who knows whose trunk those ended up in.

We need to start a thread about on-going and future gun buy-back events in PA and neighboring areas. So we could send a PAFOA contingent to each, perhaps in conjunction with some kind of impromptu meet-and-greet or OC events. Even better if a member with FFL could make to each event to facilitate handgun transfers. Does this sound like a workable plan?

Every single time a "buy back" thread is posted you will see gun owners who talk of setting up nearby and offering better prices.

I don't know if there's a legally prohibitive roadblock to this idea, or not, but I've yet to hear of it happening in PA.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
