S&W M&P question

I was reading a guns and ammo magzine and saw that the S&W 1911 had 3 groves cut out in the slide. I was wondering if this is possible with the M&P as well??? Any info would help

It's a new model they introduced at SHOT. They do not offer an M&P in the same configuration.

However, you could have the slide cut after purchase. I've seen many Glocks done like that.
