    Default First Philadelphia Purchase

I'd like to purchase a cheap handgun to keep at the house, maybe take to the range on occasion. It'd be my first purchase, and I just want to make sure I have my facts right.

    1. There is no wait period aside from a quick phone call for a background check.

    2. I can carry my weapon to the range with a LTCF permit, with the gun in the trunk and the ammo separate?

    3. I don't need the permit to purchase the handgun.

I plan on going to the Philadelphia Archery and Gun Club.

Any other words of advice or corrections on my facts? Extra info I should know?

Yes unless PICS puts you in a ~15 day research status/I have a question/yes

    Do you have your LTCF?
You could carry it loaded and sitting in a pocket holster if you do.

There is a ton of info on this site, so I'd try to read all of it.
FYI, without a LTCF you can't stop for ammo/gas on the way to/from the range.

Should be good to go. Bring two forms of ID. They like to have more than a drivers license.

Also as stated above you do not need a LTCF to transport to range and home. This also goes for gunsmithing/ work that might have to be done.

If you using it for home defense I would recommend a pair of night sights or a weapon mounted light.

Let us know what you get. Enjoy and remember the gun is only as good as the shooter. Shot it often and know the gun. You do t want to be forced to use it and not be comfortable with it.

Thank you for the info guys! I've been surfing the forums, but there's a LOT of stuff to digest here.

What did you end up getting? How was your experience at the shop?

I notice some people have been hating on te shop but I've always had great experiences.
