    Thumbs down Gunbroker.com

After purchasing several guns and magazines on GunBroker I recently had my first bad experience.

I purchased 4 boxes of .40 S&W with "Buy Now."

I contacted the seller immediately and also left a voicemail. After 4 days with no reply, I used the Buyers Tools and had Gunbroker contact the seller.

Still no reply. Per GunBroker's instructions, I left Negative feedback.

On the sixth day the seller duns me for payment and actually threatens me!

I filed a complaint with GB since this seller obviously can't follow THEIR TERMS OF SERVICE!

Guess what, they took his side and said it been sooo busy and the sellers are sooo backed up.

It is my opimion that if a seller can't even be bothered to answer an email in five days then they should not be allowed to sell on Gunbroker.

I told them to cancel my account.

GunBroker needs me much more than I need them.

I simply will not deal with GunBroker again.

Wow, I just sold 5 and purchase 1 gun from Gunbroker. Every buyer was great to deal with in terms of communication and payment. The guy I am purchasing from sent me the information I needed for payment and where to send FFL info within several hours of the transaction.

    Terms below every single auction:

Firearms may only be shipped to a licensed dealer (FFL Holder) - If you are not a licensed dealer, you must make arrangements with a dealer in your state to receive the firearm and transfer it to you. We maintain a list of transfer dealers willing to do transfers.
Your bid is a contract - Do not place a bid unless you are going to purchase the item. Contact the seller and ask questions BEFORE you place a bid. Ask what the seller's return policy and inspection period is, and ask for an estimated shipping cost BEFORE you place any bids. If you are the winning bidder, you will enter into a legally binding contract to purchase the item from the seller.
Once you become the Winner of the Auction:
WITHIN 5 DAYS of the end of the auction you must contact the Seller and request payment instructions from the Seller.

WITHIN 10 DAYS of the end of the auction, you must send FULL PAYMENT to the Seller, and ensure your FFL (if required) sends their signed copy of their Firearms License to the Seller
If you do not complete these transactions in the prescribed timeframes you will lose your rights as the Winner of the auction, and the Seller may file a NON PAYING BIDDER (NPB) report against your account. NPB status can result in SUSPENSION of your privileges to use GunBroker.com.

I don't see what the requirements are for the seller. It looks a bit in favor of the seller.

Here it is... from the Seller Help section:

[I]I sold an item! Now what?

    (last updated on 5/31/2005)
If your item was sold, we send you an email at the end of the auction that contains the buyer's user name and email address along with the winning bid amount. If you think you have sold an item and did not get your notification, you may have changed email addresses without telling us or we may be unable to send you your notification due to technical problems with your ISP. Always check the 'Items I Sold' section of your My Auctions page to see if you have sold an item.

From the time the auction closes you have a maximum of five (5) days to contact the buyer at the email address located in the notification we sent you. The buyer must contact you as well within the same five days. If you do not receive a response from the buyer within the five days, please check the 'What if I have problems with a buyer?' section of this tutorial.

You should send the buyer clear instructions on making payment. Always include your name, address, phone number, the item number of the auction, the name of our site (GunBroker.com), and your email address. Clearly state what forms of payment (check, money order, etc) are acceptable. If the item was a firearm, remind the buyer that he must send or fax you a copy of his transfer dealer's FFL license, signed in blue or red ink. If you require proof of age for non-firearm items, request that information.

Once payment has been made, you can ship the item. Please refer to our Firearm Shipping Guide for instructions on ways to ship firearms, ammunition, and other special items.[/I

So then what? No consequences for the seller for not contacting the buyer? If that's the case, I just ignore buyers who don't bid as high as I would like?

I will continue to look but I'm not seeing this well thought out on Gunbroker's end.

I'm 2 for 2 on GB, but I do agree with you, if they set the terms and terms are not followed, then tough sh** on the seller. If they are too busy to follow up after the sale, then don't list !!!!! Same for Feebay, nothing pisses me off more than winning, paying, then waiting 3-4 days to hear from them when their auction states " ships immediately". I have mine noted 4 days handling, so it gives me a buffer if I'm busy. Just my two cents ......

A lot of dealers were at the Shot Show in Las Vegas and couldn't take care of all business at hand.

My experience on Gunbroker has been quite satisfactory -- one sale and a number of buys, and no issues.

My GB account was closed in June, I had over 400 A+ Feedbacks...

I sold a NIB DPMS 308 to a guy with 2 A+ feedbacks, he said the bolt was "oversized" and sent GB a repair bill from a gun shop for $421.00 who told me to cover the bill or my account would be terminated for fraud...

I told them I'm not paying money to a con-man because his buddy wrote up a phony repair slip, they took his side...

    Piss on Gun-Broker......

I use gunauction.com instead of GunBroker. Not as big as Gunbroker. Products often are cheaper on gunauction.com and there aren't as many people bidding against you.
