m44 mosin nagant stock
Ive looked all over the internet for some aftermarket stocks and I cant seem to find any at a reasonable price or that even look good. I was hoping some of you other m44 fans might know of some sites i could visit?

Re: m44 mosin nagant stock
I bought a Butler Creek for mine and really like it(one more black assault rifle). You might try Midway USA, they own one of the old stock companies, sorry senior moment. I foumd a scope mount and bolt modification that was easy and works very good. Mine now will shoot about 1 1/2" with the rummanian surplus.
When I get time will look around my catalogs and see what is out there.

where did you mount your scope? was it over the bolt action? or closer to the stock site in the middle?

Re: m44 mosin nagant stock
The kit mounts over the bolt and contains a replacement bolt handle that goes on after cutting off the existing handle. The only tools needed are a drill press and file or grinder. I think that there was a tap in the kit, if not they are cheap. If you have any problems or questions let me know. My expertise is free and worth every penny. I also did a Google search on Mosin Nagant replacement stocks and got a bunch of sites. The black stock and scope/bolt mod. made this one of our favorite toys. It is good enough that I sold the Win. 30/06.

Re: m44 mosin nagant stock
wow impressive, two more questions for ya. did you have to cut the barrel down where the bayonet was attatched or is there some way to remove/replace the front sites?
Could you post some of the urls here? im still having some computer dummy moments here. thanks!

Re: m44 mosin nagant stock
If you drive out the pin or pins the front sight assy. will drive off. Before you start this apply a good penetrating oil and tap several times while wating for the parts to arrive. The only down side the barrel is butt ugly with the mill marks, I was always going to polish but never got around to it. Also it shoots good enough that I will probably leave it alone. I will be gone for awhile(errand for wife), will post links upon return.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but you can now get Realtree camo stocks for the M-44. Cheaper than Dirt or Sportsmans Guide can fix you up, but generally, plastic stocks cost nearly as much as the rifle.
