    Default Spring Township pre-emption violation

So, in trying to help someone else answer a question, I came across this ordinance from the Township of Spring ordinances online:

    Chapter 20
Section 124. Firearms, Knives, Bow and Arrows, Etc. No person shall:
    (A) Bring into or upon any areas of the Park System, nor have in their
possession, or discharge, or set off anywhere upon said properties, a revolver,
pistol, shotgun, rifle, air rifle, sling shot, air gun, or any gun, firearm or bow or
other weapon that discharges projectiles either by air, explosive substance or any
other force. Except that this section shall not apply to any deputy sheriff, police
officer, peace officer, or other duly appointed law enforcement officer while
carrying out the duties and responsibilities of their position.
    (B) Possess any type of knife, hatchet or axe unless engaged in an
    activity for appropriate use.
    (C) Possess any of the above items in this section; otherwise a law
enforcement officer shall confiscate any article or weapon in the possession of
any person which is in violation of this section within the Park System.
    (Ordinance 163, May 26, 1981, Section 24)

It seems that if this is current, it is a clear pre-emption violation. I do not live in Spring Township, so I am just bringing this to the attention of anyone who lives there and visits the parks while lawfully armed.

My Bro-in-Law is a retired LEO of Spring twp. I'll try to remember to question him about it.
