    Default assault weapon or not?

Would a GSG 522 SD in 22lr be considered an assault weapon by definition?

Is it an assault rifle? Absolutely not. The lack of full-auto fire is a key feature it lacks to be considered an assault rifle.

Is it an "assault weapon?" Well, that greatly depends on how you define "assault weapon"

Technically no, but keep in mind that the definition is very fluid right now. Under current law interpretation-NO. Under the new definition proposed by Obama's administration or the state of New York? Well, see what I mean?

No. It's not FA. It's for recreational shooting if you ask me.

I kind of want one too.

Based on Feinsteins current definition, anything but a bolt action rifle is an "Assault Rifle".

If I stab you with a fork one could argue that fork is an "assault weapon".

My rem 700 has a detachable magazine, one of Feinswines evil "features".

Here's a link to the "Official List," which, of course, is likely to change.

No one seems to remember what the original AWB was all about. Lets looks at the GSG 522SD

Nice gun BTW, I really wanted one when they first came out.

Anywho. Its complicated, and I linked the legal "Flowchart" below but in 1994 your GSG 522 would be considered an "Assault Weapon" simply because it was a rifle with a pistol stock. Also the hi cap mag would be illegal, unless it was purchase before the ban. All hi-cap mags made during the ban were imprinted as being "LE only". Also certain guns were simply banned by name like the Tec-9 the Uzi, the AK-47, but some manufactures simply changed the name and a few features to make them comply.

A good example is the Saiga. When they first came out they had a sporter/rifle stock, and it came with a 10 round mag to make it comply with the AWB. Its an AK-47 action, made in the Izhmash factory in Russia that make AK-47 for decades, with no other than Mikhail Kalashnikov himself as a spokesperson, but slap on a bubba sporter stock and now its a hunting rifle and AWB legal. I wonder how many US Saiga owners were smart enough not to throw away the original stock, when they mod'ed their Saiga with an AK Pistol grip.

the term assault weapon by all the fuckin washington tools is driving me nuts.

you can make up a drinking game. everytime a tool on the news says "assault weapon" and they dont mean a gun that can fire fully auto. drink.....

if you wanna get smashed turn on msnbc or cnn

our modern sporting rifles are not assault weapons any more than an assault car, assault cookie, assault perscription drugs......all that kill more people per year than "assault weapons"
