I got a pair of those about a week ago. Tried them out a few times. Defenitely worth the $25-$30.

It muffles the shot, but then brings it back so I can hear the ring on steel.
I'm so fast, I can bump fire a bolt action.

Could answer any questions you have about BlastPLG, but I agree with those above who recommend electronic earmuffs.
I had that feeling that they were not worth the money, maybe for hunting, but I think I would rather spend the money on a high end set of electric muffs.

I use these as well, they work so well I even use them duck hunting

I add a pair of foam plugs (+ turn up the volume) when shooting indoors or when others are blasting nearby.

    I have these as well.

One thing to look for/at is compression vs. clipping.

Many units clip signals above their threshold dB level. This means that once the microprocessor in the circuit detects a level above the threshold dB, it shuts down the speaker and acts as a passive muff.

ProEars brand units use a compression circuit. With this, the microprocessor attenuates the signal and passes it through the internal speaker. This means that the sound still gets to your ears, but compressed to a level below the threshold. A handy thing to have if, say, a range command is given at the same time someone squeezes one off.

Also, they are made in the US.
