It's a general comment. Firearm owners need to remember who stood with us and against us, even though the British aren't effected by our laws they sure have pounded the "Ban" drum hard for our Liberal buddies here. Europeans in general too. What I am trying to get at is we should be doing everything in our power to de-fund European companies in general since they stand against us.

If Cabela's contacted some of these other manufacturers that they are surely a major buyer from, they could have some serious pull to encourage other manufacturers to take a stand and boycott ES&OS as well.

Just look at where the companies that are not pulling out are based. Thompson aka S&W out of Mass. Ruger out of Mass. Benilli Md. Savage Mass. Nosler, Or. Weatherby, Ca. Berger bullet, Ca. etc, etc. Why would companies that make theirmoney from the gun industry stay in the most anti gun states? Suicide wish? I was looking for a new 6.5 caliber rifle and can't afford custom so I guess Winchester for the rifle and Trijicon for glass only because they pulled from the show. That reminds me got to order tee shirts fromTijicon. See ya.

For those with the time to do so - a few things that need done in the effort:


Look for state firearms organizatrions in surrounding / Mid Atlantic states and make sure they have and diseminate the botcott information.

Look atround and find outdoor web sites in surrounding states and post the issue / boycott information. Register and post the issue and the boycott information - or feed the narrative with current info.


Plan on working on this myself, as i can today. Coming back to work today (Maryland DC area) it is amazing that few sportsmen and gun rights friends even heard of the effort, and many had planned to attend the show.


We live in a vaccum on issues like this sometimes as we are heavily involved. Meanwhile, others are unaware as was the case with many today. People I talked to were from Maryland and West Virginia - well within the attendence area for the show.


We need to get wider disemination on this. The effort needs to be made on surrounding states at this point. We have more than enough PA state based effort right now, though we need to help it continue. Time to expand the circle.

Good luck with getting a reply Steve. They are not returning phone calls, emails or web contacts from vendors, speakers, media or agencies. I guess their deafening silence means they are standing by their decision, hence the exodus of vendors and speakers willing to loose beaucoup bucks in support of the second amendment.

RUGER – Withdraws from The ESOS

Ruger has decided not to attend the upcoming Eastern Sports Show. We are very frustrated by Reed Exhibitions’ foolish decision to ban the display of modern sporting rifles.

We feel that, as one of America’s firearms manufacturers, ruger we must withdraw from the show as a commitment to the 2nd Amendment rights of our customers.

Nonetheless, we are very disappointed not to be attending the Eastern Sports Show. We were looking forward to attending the show for the first time this year and meeting and supporting the 200,000+ sportsmen and women that attend this great celebration of the outdoors.

We hope the show will be successful for the many outfitters and other vendors who depend on the show for their annual business.
