    Default Ruger MkII 22/45 Sights

I have a Ruger Mk II 22/45 that I use for target shooting. However, with the factory sights installed (black, with no white dots), I seem to be having a hard time forcing my focus on the front sight. Does anyone have any recommendations for other sights to try?

    Thanks.

If you can afford to spend a bit - consider a red dot perhaps. I have a Bushnell Trophy 30mm red dot I fitted to mine, using ''So-Low'' mounts.

Makes a great combo - ideal for pin shooting. Guess it meant putting overall about a C note to the gun. My eyes are way too old now anyways to handle open sights too well - so this is a good fix.

I had the same trouble with mine until I painted the top half of the front sight orange and the bottom half white. Now I align the orange upper part in the "box" of the rear sight and make sure that all I see is orange and that I don't see any white.

Try it. I use the little bottles of Bright Eyes sight paint. Several dealers at gun shows in the area usually have them.

Thanks. I'll have to try that.

Is there any reason to use the Bright Eyes paint over any other paint, such as Testors model paint?

No. I just happened to be walking by a table at a gun show that had the Bright Eyes and I decided to buy a botlle of each color and try it.

Actually, I think the Testor's would work better. Once the Bright Eyes is on, it's kind of rubbery and it's not hard to peel off. The Bright Eyes also comes off real easy with many of the gun cleaning solvents and I usually have to repaint the front sight after cleaning.

Thanks for the reply, but I was looking to continue using open sights.

You can also just use white out for the front sight.
