Default Family Request: Best affordable compact carry gun?

A family member of mine requested that I ask your opinions of what the best affordable compact carry gun is? Somewhere between $250-$400 would be great.

Going to a gun show tomorrow I believe, so if you've got a moment to answer tonight I'm sure he would be very appreciative! Thanks!

Try Taurus' Millennium Pro line. Been carrying a PT145 for 3 years now, 1500 rounds and counting! The 9mm's can be had for $350 ish.

I carry a Kel-Tec P11. Good ammo capacity but heavy recoil spring and DAO trigger also stiff.

My wife just got a Taurus PT709, took it to the range today, and was impressed with the accuracy for a small gun. Easy to rack the slide, too.

I had the Taurus pt111. Never had a single failure but couldn't get used to the trigger or sights. I have the kahr cw9 ($400) now and love it. Very thin and light. Tradeoff is It's a single stack mag and only holds 7+1.

Glock 19 or 26. Used Gen2 or early Gen3 are still floating around in or a little above your price range.

My little over $400 pick would be a Kahr CM9, 5 stars in my book. The best over all purchase would be a Glock 27, lots of options and very concealable. Show this to your friends.

There are a ton out there. I can't even make a suggestion because what makes a great gun for one person makes a crap gun for another. My "compact" gun is my Ruger p89. It seats closer to my body than my S&W model 10-8

EDT: My brother does like his Tarus pt145 also.
    Some people just plain suck.

    Can't go wrong with a Glock 19.
Remember, the smaller it is, the more recoil is felt, The G19 is a good compromise for concealment and recoil.
