Default Law concerning sale to out of state person

I have a friend who lives out of the state of Pennsylvania and wants to buy a pistol I have. What do I have to do to sell this to him. Thanks in advance.

You CAN'T transfer it to him directly in PA and you HAVE TO use an FFL in his home state.

The gun needs to be sent to an FFL in his home state where it will then be transferred and released to him

As far as how to get it to his FFL legally, read the stickies in regards to shipping firearms

    FFL!

When in doubt, have your FFL send it to his FFL.

Here's what you need to do:

Get a copy of the receiving FFL's license, some FFL's will not give a non-FFL a copy of their license which means you'll have to find a FFL on your end to ship the pistol. Most FFL's will charge you a fee plus actual shipping insurance.

If you get a copy of the FFL you can ship yourself via UPS or FEDEX overnight, which isn't cheap. You also need to ship at the hub because most of the UPS stores won't accept firearms for shipment

it's illegal for a non FFL to ship a pistol via USPS

Rather simple procdure but expensive since FEDEX & UPS require you to ship pistols overnight.

If you are within driving distance of your friend's FFL, you can drive there with the pistol yourself for the transfer.

Only thing to add to the above re: shipping: if you ship it yourself (as opposed to having an FFL ship it for you), include a copy of your driver's license for the receiving FFL so s/he can log it in their bound book.
