Re: where to hunt squirrels?
I too am looking for a good spot for small game.
I used to hunt the areas around Marsh Creek Lake. However, in recent years, squirrel hunting has sucked. One must also beware of ignorant yuppies walking about in their earth-tone colored Abercrombie clothes. There are signs, all over the place, stating that people are hunting but nobody seems to take heed to the advice given regarding the wearing of brightly colored clothes. I've almost been hit by a mountain biker whilst leaned against a tree along a trail. In that instance I was in blaze-orange coveralls and I'm still unsure how I surprised him... People on horses are frequently seen throughout the area too; they look like a giant doe! Dogs have come up to me before.... I've watched two dogs chase a deer up and down a few hollows until they were out of sight and I never did see the owner of the aforementioned dogs. So, yeah, I'd have to say the hunting - small game or otherwise - just sucks!
I've tried other areas in Berks, Chester & Lancaster County but it's as if the number of squirrels have dwindled - like the population has been hit by some disease. Perhaps someone working for the commonwealth can comment on my theory.Last edited by RKillcrazy; January 10th, 2013 at 04:33 PM.

Re: where to hunt squirrels?
I've had good luck most years in SGL 157 and 139...however this year I've been stumped!
Just a single tree rat...
I'm hoping that the reduced pressure in February will improve things as there are still hunters out for the late doe season.

I was going to wait until extended 5C deer was over. I feel like I'm interfering. I live near Marsh Creek and 10 mi. from SGL43.
