Default Help me ID this S&W combat magnum Please!

    Hello all,
Can you please help me ID this gun?
It is a Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum but it does not have a model number on it.
Looks to have a 4'' barrel and is a dull chrome(nickel) in color.
    The serial number is K61XXXX.
The grips are wood and the rear site is adjustable. It is a six shooter.
I will post some pics as soon as I get my camera back.
Thanks for any help that you are able to give.

The K-prefix indicates that it is a K frame. A K frame .357 with adjustable sights would be the model 19. Open the cylinder and look at the frame below the barrel. More than likely it will say 19. It might have a -1, -2 etc after the 19. If no model number are present it would be a pre model number Combat Magnum.

    The finish is nickel.

    Wow!
    That was fast.
If I open the cylinder and look at the frame below the barrel, it just has the same serial number that is on the butt of the gun.
With no model number on the gun, does that mean it is a pre 1957?
Thank you very much for the help.

The K61xxx would put it in 1965.

Tons of info on this forum.

I did find that information, Thank you.
I guess what confuses me is I have read at numerous places about if the gun does not have a model number it had to be pre 1957 but the information on that page clearly states it is a 1965.
    I am going with that.
    Thanks for all the help.
