I know everyone is wrapped around the axle over what is happening at the federal level! But you better wake up and keep track of state issues also!

Read it! This make NO provision for LTCF holders or those on legitimate business! Plus it makes it Illegal to possess a firearm on the grounds of ANY public recreation facility. Remember SheFearsNothingl?

AN ACT

1Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, further providing for possession of
3weapon on school property.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. The heading and subsection (b) of section 912 of
7Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended
8to read:

9§ 912. Possession of weapon on school or public recreational
10property.

12(b) Offense defined.--A person commits a [misdemeanor]
13felony of the [first] third degree if he possesses a weapon in
14the buildings of, on the grounds of, or in any conveyance
15providing transportation to or from any elementary or secondary
16publicly-funded educational institution, any elementary or
17secondary private school licensed by the Department of
18Education, any public recreation center, park or playground or
1any elementary or secondary parochial school.

3Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.

Start writing and calling local reps and the governor. Our voices need to be heard folks. Complaining about this stuff on forums help us vent but doesn't impact the people who make or break this legislation.

Currently, this bill has only been referred to the Senate Judiciary. Hopefully, it will be shot down there. But we do need to make our local Senators aware that we know about this proposed legislation and that we do not support it. I'm going to write Senators Vogel (who is very pro-gun) and Christiana (I'm still not 100% sure where he stands yet). I suggest you all use the Politics link up to of the page here to find out who your reps are and contact them immediately. Last thing we need now are more GFZs and more public places that will force us to be defenseless and actually charge us with a felony.

There are people who watch this stuff and who are probably already talking to legislators about it, but you are 100% right - there are forces in our state who want to turn us into another NJ, and I'm afraid that vigilance and playing whack-a-mole is just going to be a part of life, at least for the rest of my lifetime.

Don't sit back and hope the other guys take care of you. Hammer your representatives and support the folks who are doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

I'm new to PA but I just sent my State Senator a letter, so will my wife. Also, I sent another letter to a State Senator in a near by district...is that okay?
